Salina Liberty signs veteran offensive lineman, James Taylor
Veteran offensive lineman James Tabor will return for his third season with the Salina Liberty, the team has announced.
Tabor (6-2, 308) played for the Liberty in 2017 and moved up to the Arena Football League and competed for the Cleveland Gladiators. He re-signed with the Liberty for the 2018 season and helped the team capture the CIF North Division championship.
Tabor competed at the collegiate level for two years at West Liberty University and started at right guard in the 2012 season. He then transferred to Friends University in 2014 and was named the starting right tackle.
Tabor was selected as a 2015 NAIA preseason first-team All-America selection and was also a first-team All-KCAC performer. Following his collegiate career, Tabor worked out for seven NFL teams and also participated in a CFL workout with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Tabor just wrapped up his first season as an assistant coach at Friends and also spent two seasons on the staff at Wichita East High School.
The Liberty open their fourth season on March 16 with a preseason game at Tony's Pizza Event Center, followed by a regular season road game at Amarillo on March 23.
Salina will be part of the CIF's Northern Conference with the Wichita Force, Sioux City Bandits and Omaha Beef. The Southern Conference features the Amarillo Venom, Oklahoma Flying Aces, Duke City Gladiators and Texas Revolution. The Liberty will play a 12-game regular season schedule in 2019.
