The Champions Indoor Football League’s 2018 season is not even two months underway, but league officials and team representatives have already begun working on the 2019 season with an effort to grow and further expand the league. The CIF would like to officially introduce their first new member team for 2019 season with the return of a familiar opponent, the West Michigan Ironmen.

Champions Indoor Football League Commissioner Ricky Bertz, “We are excited to welcome the West Michigan Ironmen ownership group and team into the CIF family. While the league is very familiar with the Muskegon market and team, the new ownership group has a vision and business plan that the league and its member teams are excited about seeing executed. Their relationships with the arena, business community and existing sports franchises we believe will be the key to them running a successful franchise that the league will be proud of along with the community they call home. The addition of the West Michigan Ironmen is what we hope to be the first of more franchises that we plan to announce during our current 2018 season of play as there are several other expansion franchises we are speaking with. We will continue to keep our fans, partners and supporters updated as much as possible as those negotiations progress”.

Ironmen managing partner Tim Taylor, “Being the first new member team of the CIF for the 2019 season is definitely something everyone with the Ironmen are excited about, but more importantly with our team and ownership group making this decision so early it allows us to be proactive with our fans and sponsors. Bringing the Ironmen back to the CIF was a very easy decision for everyone involved. We wanted to join a league that we could learn from our partners, but also be a good contributing member in helping the league grow and develop and we found that with the CIF”.

The Champions Indoor Football League is currently playing in it’s 4th season, and now consists of 12 teams making it still the largest professional indoor football league in the United States.
