Albuquerque, N.M. – The playoff hopes went dim for the Gladiators with the last second loss to the Dodge City Law last Saturday. As the rest of the Southern Division games of the week played out, Duke City (4-5) now still has a chance to make their first playoff appearance in the organization’s history as they face off against the Texas Revolution (7-2) this Friday night.

It will be an uphill battle for the Gladiators as they will have to accomplish the task of winning their last three games starting with the Revolution.

The playoff possibility comes with a chance for 3 teams in the division to have a 3-way tie at records of 7-5. The teams include the Duke City Gladiators, Wichita Force, and Dallas Marshals.

With the potential tie among the three teams, Duke City would secure the final spot in the post season due to their strength of schedule.

There are a few concerns with this season’s Southern Division schedule as some teams never played each other once. This includes Dodge City never facing Amarillo, especially when the two teams are literally hours driving distance apart.

Friday night will boast a high intensity matchup as this will be the first time the Gladiators will have faced the Revolution all season. Texas has scored a total of 593 points this season with 2,566 total offensive yards while the Gladiators showcase 515 points on the season with 2,501 total offensive yards.

Head Coach Dominic Bramante is focused on this game and expressed his mindset by saying, “Last week was a tough loss, but we’re not dwelling on it. We know what we have to do against Texas and that is win!”

Duke City will return home on May 27th where they will face the Amarillo Venom for the fourth time this season. The following week will be a matchup against the Dodge City Law which will be the third time this season the two teams have faced each other.

Duke City continues the season on the road this Friday May 19th at 6:00 pm mountain time against the Texas Revolution where they faceoff for the first time this season. Fans can watch the online stream at DukeCityGladiators.com and follow along on social media with hashtag #DCGvsTEX.
