Albuquerque, N.M. – Tingley Coliseum was once again alive as the Gladiators defeated the Metro Stars by a score of 70-6. The pre-season/exhibition matchup was played in front of over 3,000 fans and there were no disappointments on the Gladiator sideline.

Duke City made it a point to polish things up for the regular season kick off on March 4th when they face Dodge City on the road.

Saturday night was a special one as first responders were honored for their heroic contributions to the community. Firefighters, police officers, and paramedics were put on the biggest stage in Albuquerque as fans recognized those men and women in uniform as well as those who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Special guests included Chief Gordon Eden of the Albuquerque Police Department, Chief Dave Downey of the Albuquerque Fire Department, and Michelle Webster who is the widow of the late Officer Daniel Webster who was killed on duty.

The game had plenty of excitement as the Gladiators rocked touchdown after touchdown. Fans felt the energy as former University of New Mexico Quarterback Donovan Porterie scored on 2 touchdown passes. He was 6 for 8 tosses as he focused his efforts on the team’s running game.

Porterie expressed what his goals were for tonight’s game, “We just really wanted to come out and focus on technique and polish things off before we meet up with Dodge City.”
