The Kansas City Phantoms are excited to announce the signing of former University of Kansas/University of Northern Iowa running back, Darrian Miller (5’9, 195). “We are very excited to be able to bring Darrian home to Kansas City,” said Phantoms Head Coach Chris Coffin. “He is a dynamic player with a very high ceiling, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how his abilities translate to the indoor game.”
Darrian is considered by many as one of the best running backs to come out of the very rich running back tradition of Blue Springs High School. The 2011 graduate finished his career as the Missouri all-time big class rushing leader with 6,565 yards, notching 88 touchdowns. Darrian garnered many awards along the way, including three first team all-state selections, two Class 6 offensive player of the year awards, and was honored as the Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year in 2010.
Darrian attended the University of Kansas following his outstanding high school career and had an instant impact. He saw action in all 11 games as a true freshman, finishing second on the team with 559 rushing yards. He saw action in 8 games as a sophomore, again finishing second on the team in rushing yards. Darrian transferred to the University of Northern Iowa for his final two college seasons, where he continued to be a key contributor. He amassed over 1,300 all-purpose yards in two seasons for the Panthers.
“I’m very thankful to be part of this organization. I couldn’t be any happier than to continue my career in the city where it all began,” Darrian stated when asked his thoughts on the Phantoms inaugural season.
