The Kansas City Phantoms are excited to announce the signing of former of Kansas State University defensive lineman, Travis Britz (6’4, 300). Travis returns home to play in Kansas City after spending the 2016 preseason with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he signed as a rookie free agent.
Travis was a stand out athlete at Harrisonville High School. Travis tallied 214 tackles in his three year career, including 10 sacks. He garnered many awards following his senior season, including Kansas City All-Metro First Team, First team All-State, Missouri Class 4 Defensive Player of the Year, and MaxPreps Second Team All-American.
Travis attended Kansas State University and had an immediate impact on the field. He saw action in 11 games as a true freshman, and saw action in 47 games throughout his four year career, starting 36 of them. The senior captain tied a KSU career record with 5 blocked kicks, and was ranked third in the Big 12 with 11 tackles for loss as an interior defensive lineman. Travis was voted Honorable Mention All-Big 12 for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, and was voted Second Team All-Big 12 for the 2015 season.
“We have just added another monster to our defensive line” said Phantoms Head Coach Chris Coffin. “Travis’ technique is second to none, and when you add that to his measurables, I don’t believe there is anyone in this league that can slow him down consistently in a one on one setting.”
