It was a battle for the CIF Northern Division Saturday night at Tony’s Pizza Event Center as the Salina Liberty (5-3) played host to the Omaha Beef (7-1). In the last regular season home game for the Liberty, Salina found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter, 19-9.

The Liberty would rebound and outscore the Beef with a 20-3 run in the second quarter and after a late Omaha field goal, Salina led 29-25 at the intermission.

In the second half, the Liberty defense would take over. Omaha would struggle to put points on the board. After scoring a touchdown with  12 seconds left in the first quarter, Omaha would not find the end zone until there was 20 seconds left in the game. The Liberty would also create four turnovers against the Beef offense.

Salina has now won 5 of the last 6 games and will head out on the road for the final three games of the regular season. The Liberty will play on Sunday, June 9th against the Wichta Force at Intrust Bank Arena.
