Salina Liberty Adds Defensive Player

Javier Dyer, who helped turn Reinhardt University's football program into one of the best in the NAIA, has signed a contract with the Salina Liberty.

Dyer was an all-conference defensive end and four-year starter for the Reinhardt Eagles from 2014-17, helping lead his team to a berth in the 2017 NAIA national championship game and the 2016 national semifinals.

The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Dyer finished his college career with 210 tackles, including 35 of them for losses. He was part of the Eagles' first recruiting class in 2013 when the Waleska, Ga., school decided to revive its football program.

Prior to signing with the Liberty, Dyer was a member of the Salt Lake Stallions of the Alliance of American Football League.

Dyer and his Liberty teammates will report to Salina on March 1, with the first practice on March 5. Salina opens its fourth season on March 16 with a preseason game against the KC Marshals  at Tony's Pizza Event Center, followed by a regular season road game at Amarillo on March 23.

Salina will be part of the CIF's Northern Conference with the Wichita Force, Sioux City Bandits and Omaha Beef. The Southern Conference features the Amarillo Venom, Oklahoma Flying Aces, Duke City Gladiators and Texas Revolution. The Liberty will play a 12-game regular season schedule in 2019.
