Salina Liberty Signs Stafford
The Salina Liberty are pleased to announce that talented receiver Julian Stafford will return in 2019 for his second season with the team.
Stafford (5-10, 180) was one of the Champion Indoor Football League's top receivers last season with 36 catches for 464 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also averaged over 18 yards on nine kickoff returns.
Stafford, who grew up in Memphis, Tenn., attended Sheffield High School before having a remarkable college career at Mississippi Valley State, a school that produced NFL Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice.
At Mississipp Valley State, Stafford caught 170 passes for 2,510 yards and 16 touchdowns from 2012-14 and was named first-team All-SWAC. He played professionally with the Nebraska Danger in 2017.
The Liberty open their fourth season on March 16 with a preseason game against the Topeka Flight at Tony's Pizza Event Center, followed by a regular season road game at Amarillo on March 23.
Salina will be part of the CIF's Northern Conference with the Wichita Force, Sioux City Bandits and Omaha Beef. The Southern Conference features the Amarillo Venom, Oklahoma Flying Aces, Duke City Gladiators and Texas Revolution. The Liberty will play a 12-game regular season schedule in 2019.
